General Skank

General Skank are an 8-piece reggae group hailing from London Town. Armed with dubby melodies, sweet politically conscious vocals, and a stylistic mashup that ranges from roots to rocksteady, dub to dancehall, and ska to drum ‘n’ bass General Skank are at the forefront of the Brit Reggae Revival Army. Now touring their hugely popular dub inspired live show with their newest member; smooth and cheeky vibesman ZICO (onlyjoe, Unit137), these guys will get your feet moving and your brain thinking.

Only a year after they formed they had built up a following on the London scene and proved that they are a band that all reggae fans love to see live, with reggae heavyweights Earl Gateshead and David Rodigan both commenting on how they manage to create an authentic Jamaican sound whilst peppering the music with their UK flavour. They have headlined Cecil Reuben’s well respected ‘Roots Rock Reggae’ night at Hootananny, Brixton and have worked with promoters such as DubTastic Music, Wormfood!, Shak-Out, Fruit Palace, Mana Wax and at venues such as Passing Clouds, Brixton Jamm, The Attic, Concorde 2 to name a few. They are ready to shake the dancefloor wherever they go!

General Skank have also enjoyed recording success with their single ‘I Lost My Way’ receiving regular airplay by David Rodigan on his BBC1Xtra radio show. They are now busy in the studio writing and recording with ZICO and they cannot wait to take their show on the road this Summer. Having already been booked to play at Boomtown Fair, the Generals are looking to fill their Summer diaries with festivals so they can spread the sweet sweet reggae music far and wide.

Catch them from 1pm in Tanner Street Park.
