City Hunt Bermondsey
A new edition of the interactive urban game launches this month
Date: Saturday 19th September Time: 11am – 6pm
City Hunt is back, following the success of last years Blackfriars Stories, the urban interactive treasure hunt returns this time to London’s Bermondsey. Conceived and organised by Ugly Duck, a South London based creative social enterprise, and supported by Southwark Council, the interactive online / offline game aims to bring to life Bermondsey’s rich histories and curiosities in an active – and interactive – way.
After registering at www.cityhunt.co.uk, players take to the streets with their smartphones to solve a series of clues. The website guides participants through the route while tracking their progress, revealing snippets of information about the area. A beautifully illustrated paper-based version of the game will be available for younger players, which you will be able to collect from the City Hunt stall at the Bermondsey Street Festival from 11am – 6pm. High scoring players will be rewarded by a range of prizes, including a day pass to a spa, dinner for two, or a family trip to the HMS Belfast, with more prizes to be revealed on the day.
City Hunt animates public spaces with the characters, tales and histories that make them special. City Hunt want local people to take pride in their area, for strangers to discover something they would never have known otherwise. Bermondsey has a vast history from the fiery past of Tooley Street to the famous Jamaica Road; City Hunt is a chance to celebrate what’s already here and for the past not to be forgotten.
City Hunt Bermondsey runs 11am-6pm September 19th 2015. Registration on www.cityhunt.co.uk is now open.
